Professional Profile
Mia Biondi, PhD, NP-PHC, received her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University, with postdoctoral fellowships at Toronto General Research Institute and the National Microbiology Laboratory. She completed her clinical training at Western University and was recognized as the top BScN in Ontario. She has received numerous awards to support her research including from organizations such as CIHR and NSERC.
Mia is a primary care nurse practitioner (NP); and oversees focused practices in HIV PrEP and hepatitis B & C in Windsor, Chatham, London, and Toronto. In her free time, Mia volunteers as a primary care NP to support persons who are at-risk of, or are being trafficked.
Mia’s research focuses on increasing hepatitis B, C, and HIV screening and treatment through alternative diagnostic and systems approaches. She is especially interested in increasing screening uptake and linkage to care among prenatal, pediatric, gay and bisexual men, and women engaged in sex work.
Mia holds faculty appointments at Western and McMaster Universities; teaches in the Ontario-wide primary care NP training program; and trains non-specialist providers in the management and treatment of hepatitis C.
